New Ferraris off to spread the Magic Car

The Ferrari Magic India Discovery set off from Mumbai today. Two 612 Scagliettis, escorted by a little 500 and a Fiat Bravo, plus a fleet of support vehicles which include Tata Safaris and an IVECO Panther - the Italian version of the Hummer, set off on a voyage of discovery around India.

The 612 is named after Sergio Scaglietti, an erstwhile Modenese coachbuilder and close associate of Enzo Ferrari himself. The car has a 5748cc V12 engine which pumps out 540bhp, enough to power the car to 300kph. The 612 can seat four people.

This eclectic fleet will cover more than 13,000 kilometres as they wend their way through India’s verdant countryside, taking in places of historical and cultural significance over 74 days on the road. Where are the roads in India to really enjoy a Ferrari? Follow these exotic Italian cars to find out, as we track them both on our website and in the magazine. The route these cars will follow has been chalked by Autocar India, and we will bring you regular updates and photographs along the journey.

The Magic India will go around India in an anti-clockwise direction, heading south to Thiruvananthapuram via Goa and Mysore and then heading up the east coast to Kolkata. From Kolkata, the Ferraris will wend their way north to Delhi and Shimla, before heading back to Mumbai on May 7.
